Homework

 Homework
Parents,

Welcome to First Grade! For many First Graders, this is the first year they will experience daily homework. Most students are very excited about it! Each week your child will receive a list of homework assignments.  Help your child develop a positive attitude about homework by reviewing the weekly homework sheet together, setting up a time and a quiet place to do homework, and making sure that homework is completed and returned on time.  Please be sure they complete their homework each night, no excuses please.  We are learning to be responsible students! Establishing a positive routine now will have lifelong effects on your child’s academic career! Homework is an important part of your child’s education and its purpose at this stage is to teach responsibility and reinforce skills and concepts taught in school. Homework assignments should take approximately 30 minutes. If your child has tried his or her best and is still having trouble completing the assignment in a reasonable amount of time, please contact me.  Homework is a time for your child to shine and show you what he or she is learning! Keep your routine consistent and help your child enjoy learning at home. In addition students should read for a minimum of 15-20 minutes a night.

Happy learning together!

Each week I will post the homework here, so if your child is absent or it gets misplaced (I know how easily that can happen) your child will still be up to date. Please remember, your child is still responsible for homework when they are absent.
