The first week was extremely hot for most students and staff at Wakefield Hills, but we were quite comfortable in Room 129. Everyone seemed happy to be back at school and ready to learn!
Students need to bring their MAGIC Book to school each day. They may also bring in a water bottle to keep on their desk, but it must have a sport top. We are fortunate to be in a classroom with an air conditioner, so your child may want to bring a sweater or sweatshirt in case they get cold.
In the next few weeks, during Social Studies, we will be working on routines, rules, and expectations. We will be creating our classroom rules together and learning more about our classroom behavior system and the Hi-Five rules for Wakefield Hills. Beginning next week, please check Class Dojo and your child's Monthly Calendar pocket daily in their MAGIC Book to see what kind of day they had. We will be working hard to be Terrific Timberwolves.
Thank you to all the families that have already signed up for Class Dojo. If you have not signed up yet, please do so. If you did not receive an email invite, please let me know. Dojo is the way I communicate with families. Each day I will post the points your child earns. I also post pictures and send all communications through Dojo.
During our writing time, we will begin Student of the Day this week and each child will have a day to share their "me" box. I love learning about each of them. They always love sharing their "me" box. I will be posting Student of the Day pictures on Dojo.
In math we are subitizing, working on Plus 0 and Plus 1 facts, finding patterns on the 120 chart and counting to 120 from any number. We are also learning about non-standard measurement. Ask your child what length unit we are using to measure.
In Fundations, we are reviewing all the letters and sounds from kindergarten and practicing letter formation.
Open house is on Thursday, September 20th at 6:00 pm. More information will be coming home soon.
Thank you for all the supplies that were donated to the classroom. I appreciate your generosity and support. I am looking forward to a 'wand"erful year!
